Bridge on the river why

Following last night’s successful Lad’s Night In with m’boy, the youngest joined us this morning.

It’s nice to have most of the band back together, but remains difficult being apart from the biggest one even though she appears to be ghosting me this week. I’m sure she’ll get back in touch soon though, she has a birthday coming up….

It is interesting having had some time with just one of my offspring. Firstly, it’s nice to have a bit of quality time with them and have an uninterrupted conversation. It’s also nice to be able to say “yes” to everything as there are no allowances to make for the others.

It is also makes a pleasant change to not be outnumbered by them as you’re reminded of how much easier it is when there is only one. Particularly when that one is a little older and is starting to enjoy things that you can engage with much easier ie. computer games, burgers, Friends and card games.

Next week, we’re going to swap and the youngest will be with me for a daddy/daughter night. She’s a bit more of a handful, as to her; instructions are guidelines, orders are optional and she’ll do what you’ve asked, but at a time and date of her choosing, so you’ll probably need to check with her people. She is also in that stage of pushing back on requests, arguing about everything and also questioning most things, which I know is intrinsically “a good thing”, but it can get a little wearing after a while when you just want a cup of tea rather than a discussion surrounding its origins.

I’m fortunate enough to have had another brilliant, stimulating day and am now looking forward to what will undoubtedly be a full-on weekend bathed in cuddles, sunshine, music and looking for reasons to keep saying “yes”.

Life is definitely easier (and more fun) when you do!

Stay healthy.
