Young Cardinal

We had a lovely Zoom happy hour with our friends last night.  We have made it a "no Trump zone," even though we all share the same political views.  We find that focusing on him too much right now, doesn't help anyone or anything.   So instead we caught up about our children and their situations during this pandemic and thankfully everyone's kids are doing well.  The couple that I mentioned previously in a blip that had both been sick with the virus, now both test positive for the antibodies.  He has been admitted to a Johns Hopkins antibody study but she wasn't accepted because she had never had an initial positive coronavirus test which is required by the research protocol.  It took over 6 weeks for him to test negative to the virus, and now he can finally see his patients again.  He was out of commission for almost 2 months from the start of the illness which was quite short  to finally testing negative. I wonder how many people remain positive that long and continue to shed virus and potentially spread the disease.  Just one of the many things we do not know at this time.

I was finally able to pick up my plants from the nursery and got my herbs planted as well as the flowers in the pots on the deck.   As we had our coffee on the porch, I got the impulsive idea to bring the hammock stand in from under the maple tree where it is never used because there are too many mosquitos and put it on the porch.  The stand is 15 feet longs so we had to do a bit of rearranging of furniture,  but we finally got it in a satisfactory place.  We got the hammock out of storage and found that it was starting to fray and come apart so we have ordered a new one that should be here later this week.  I will be a lovely place for a nap during the nice weather.

There was lots of bird activity all day today and again, a couple of altercations between the blue jays and cardinals.  During.a quiet moment this very young cardinal showed up, looking a bit scruffy but kind of cute.
