Opportunist

Spotted this opportunistic hoverfly trying to ground itself in some rather blustered wisteria.

Highlight of the day was catching up with my parents who were in very good spirits- we had a very good laugh which resulted in my mother and myself crying with laughter. Interestingly we were laughing at my dad’s somewhat bland tale of making soup from scratch. He had earlier been giving advice on frightening mating snakes by shaking a stick at them. My mother and I though this was not reassuring advice but my brother and dad thought it was quite sensible for my elderly mother to tackle the snakes herself using big sticks. One good thing that came out of it was my brother suggested it would be sensible to have a plan in place just in case a snake does attack.

In other news I discovered my parents have a bottle of snake deterrent liquid in their loft and, you guessed it, it has pictures of snakes on it :-)
