Berylline Humingbird

Check out what I've posted for yesterday

I got it, the elusive and rare  Berylline hummingbird. I knew right where to sit because earlier in the day a guy was hogging the best angle to see it. This is a juvenile. Now, of the 14 species known to have visited here, I've shot all but four. Those four are considered rare.

So far, I've seen but haven't photographed (new for me) a Mexican Whip-poor-will, a White-throated swift and a Varied Bunting. Will be on the lookout. The extra is a Blue grosbeak.

I didn't know before I arrived that the Forest Service has listed the risk of wildfires as very high,so no the charcoal fires. The owner lent me his grill which has a small propane tank.  The gas ran out as I was grilling my hamburgers. A new tank is coming.

As I sat on the porch bemoaning the above, a befuddled stranger pulled into the lot. His name was Steve and he came to visit owner Steve. He came up and we chatted for a while.  He was really nice (and really cute).

I have since gotten a few more shots of the Trogan.  Will try again, this time for a female.
