Abstract Thursday ....

... Painterly affect.

There was much excitement in our house this morning!

Do you remember this?  Well that chrysalis is now this beautiful Eastern Black Swallowtail!  I discovered that he had eclosed (emerged) this morning upon walking into the sunroom .... that's where this one and six others have been overwintering since last September!  That's eight long months!!

It's been raining off and on all day so we had to wait until the afternoon to release him from the enclosure.  That wasn't an easy task as he was difficult to get out and still try to get a decent picture at the same time. Thankfully R was home so he helped get the butterfly out of the enclosure  while I stood ready with my camera.  I still only ended up with two shots ....see extra for the other one ... before he took off!

I've been talking to the chrysalids for a about a month now trying to encourage them to emerge ... now I just hope the others follow suit.  Stay tuned ...
