Boxwood, 3 ys Old

This tree was found at the nursery, growing as a sucker to a much bigger tree.   It was cut away from the parent tree, with a complete set of roots.  I was asked if I was interested, and of course, the answer was yes....
At the base of the trunk, you can see 3 white roots that I have brought to the surface.   I deliberately left them in the air.   A root and a branch are exactly the same physiologically in the the plant world.   When a root is left in the air, the root barks over, it becomes a branch, or what we call nabari.  as the root barks up and grows, it will become some beautiful character in a year or 3.
This tree is about 3.5 inches tall, with a nice trunk and character.   It will have the rest of the summer to grow and get even more special.
