Rose of Sharon

It's rained quite a lot today. I think it started about 10 o'clock before that it was just very gloomy.

This afternoon I just nipped out the back door keeping the lens downwards and took three shots of this hypericum.

It wasn't unexpected at 103 but still very sad to lose Vera. I wasn't alive during the war years but she was part of the soundtrack of my early life in particular. I watched the BBC tribute this evening. i did wonder what Barry Humphries was doing on there but he said something that rang a bell. He said something like, 'The voices of WW2 were Winston Churchill and Vera Lynn' and that sounds about right to me, although I wasn't there. Her's was the more tuneful of the two, bless her!
