Life in Sunny Dubai

Carter's

Last week, I received an email from Wafi telling me that anyone who had a birthday during lockdown (March-May) would get a complimentary bottle of wine when they dined at either of the two restaurants that are back up and running. We chose Carter's, a British gastro-pub which is a long-time favourite.

We arrived for lunch (after a very leisurely morning) and got to choose our table. We were the first customers of the day, so my booking in advance wasn't quite required. In any case, they had no idea I'd booked. It took a while to settle down, but once everything got sorted, we had a really great time. It's the smartest we've looked in months! The food was excellent, the bottle of Italian wine they gave us was delicious and we ended up eating far too much. So no dessert.

We walked through to the Mall to have a look in M&S and then had a coffee. I was slightly tickled by the social distancing put in place - only one chair per table, so G and I sat diagonally! It was fun doing something as "normal" as this today.

The rest of the day was spent trying to recover from how full we both felt, so much so that dinner was scrapped. We just had some jelly that G had made before. We're all set for a new week.
