Tiny Tuesday ...

... eye ... of the tiger.

Meet Kiera ... she is (we hope) the newest member of our family.  You may remember her from a not too long ago blip ... although it seems like forever ago!  Here's her story ....

I first spotted this tiny kitten in our backyard on Jan 21 ... first picture was the link above the following day.  We would see her occasionally in the back so to protect our wildlife we finally set out a humane trap for her so we could possibly take her to a shelter.  We were successful on March 22 ... right before the Coronavirus locked everything down!!

Since taking her to a shelter (or anywhere else) was now out of the question we brought her into the house ... first in a large cage and then set free into the spare downstairs bedroom.  Of course, she was quite afraid of us for a while but has since come around nicely.  Today was her first adventure in the sunroom with me.

We still need to get her to a clinic for testing and to be spayed.  If the tests go as we'd like (feline leukemia negative) and she gets along with Cheddar she is ours to keep.

As for her name ... Kiera. We had a hard time deciding on a name. I first started calling her Little Bits but I didn't want her to go through live identified by her size ... which is tiny.  Then we tried out some others on her.  I read the name Kiera (pronounced Keer-ah) recently and liked it so I Googled it! The origin is Gaelic/Irish and means "little dark one" ... which I thought perfect for her. And one of the nicknames for Kiera is KitKat ... which was a name we also considered!  Purrfect!

Sorry this is so long but her story needed to be told!
