Seeing double

Oh dear. A bit of a day.

Mr A had a brief bout of double vision last night, but it appeared to resolve itself. However, he woke up with double vision this morning, and it didn't disappear, so he phoned the surgery and after a phone consultation with the doctor, he was dispatched to the Western General. Luckily my "all day meeting" today was finished in just 45 minutes so I was available without having to ask for a special exemption. At the WGH we spent the afternoon in a windowless room (but I should note that they very kindly put us in a single room in the Same Day Emergency Care unit, which meant that I was allowed to stay) and he underwent various tests including a CT scan of his brain (which actually showed nothing, but at least it didn't show other things which it could have been). The outcome is that he has almost certainly had a mild stroke, which has affected his vision but nothing else as far as we can see. Some adjustments to his medication later, we eventually made it home. I've fashioned a temporary eye patch with one of those sleeping masks you get on aeroplanes, and he is under orders to swap it around regularly. But he can read and write ok with one eye. That was just as well, as he was late with an OU assignment today, so something has just been bashed off and submitted more or less as a holding exercise. Not ideal.

Well, of course, none of it is ideal, and he had the riot act read very gracefully by the stroke doctor regarding taking more exercise.... I took note.

When we left the hospital, it was in a sense more cheerfully than when we arrived, as at least we know what the problem is, and the incessant rain that had continued overnight and through this morning had at least stopped. It was replaced by brilliant sunshine, which should continue tomorrow.

Anyway, I photographed the oxalis this morning just after I'd misted it, so that's my blip. And this morning, I also uploaded the Argyll escape pictures to flickr.
