Restrictions

Who knew that a visit to a city centre to a hair salon would be the subject of such debate and nervousness. But this is 2020 ........

J has cut my hair twice since March, and made a pretty good job of it. Hers is altogether trickier, and neither she nor I want to attempt it. It has now reached the pudding bowl stage - very fine hair, lots of volume. And there is the colouring issue.

She has been going to the same salon for years. And, after an interesting experience at the aptly named “hairlucinations” in Bootle many years ago, I’ve been going there too.

So today was our first trip to Manchester City Centre since March. It was very quiet. Most people who used to work here in the big offices are still home working, or furloughed.

The salon has things sorted. They are normally closed on Mondays (it is their training day), but opened for us and another lady. Visors. Masks. Hand sanitiser. Glass screens. Social distancing. All restrictions which made us feel a lot more comfortable.
