The First Japanese Anemone

Oh gosh another darned hot day today...enough, enough! It was 92F/33C this afternoon and hotter yet tomorrow - forecast to be 97F. It appears to moderate after that.

But I had a pleasant day - working on my classes this morning (the grading is now up to date!) and a visit to my dear mom and dad this afternoon. We're supposed to sit outside on their patio, with masks on, which we did in the beginning. But mom was hot and asked to go inside. I was the only one there, my sister was taking a break from caring for them in between caregivers.

So mask on I pushed her wheelchair inside (with mom in it), parked her, sanitized my hands and sat on the other side of the living room. I texted my sister to let her know. But what in the world can you do? We do the best we can in this situation. My sister arrived shortly thereafter and took my temperature. All is well and we had a cool and lovely visit for another hour. What a ghastly situation this is.

I was exhausted when I got home - primarily I think from my emotions. Mom is just a wee slip of a thing now, dozing much of the time. The huge black sling that she wears due to the clavicle surgery (only another week of it we hope) practically overwhelms her, she's so tiny at 82 lbs now.

I took a hot tour through the garden when I got home and found the first of the Anemone japonicas blooming. It looked so cool and peaceful that I reveled in it for a few minutes before retreating to the cool indoors.

Be well dear blipmates.
