A memory

I came across my mother's little purse today.  She carried it with her in her walker, and it contained, along with her cards,  such things as hearing aid batteries, safety pins, paper clips, a pair of tweezers, two pocket mirrors and a comb.  What I was surprised to find was a letter sent to her after she announced she had decided it was time to die.  She stopped eating and drinking at that point and came to a  peaceful end twelve days later at age 95.  The letter let her know that we loved and would be there for her as long as she needed us and we'd not try to dissuade her.  I hadn't known she'd kept that letter but clearly she valued it.
