Painshill Park

After yesterday's scorcher of a day it was thankfully a little cooler today. Gavin and I had a good walk with Xena this morning and then at 1pm we had the scattering of the Gavin's mother's ashes at her church grounds via Zoom. There is a lovely brass plaque in her name in the church's garden of remembrance and the ashes were scattered amongst the flowers as per her wishes. There were only close family in attendance and then close family who could not attend watched via Zoom.

After that we had lunch and then went to Painshill Park for a walk around the lake with Xena - dogs are allowed on a lead. Tickets had to be pre-booked and it was not at all busy. It is a very large landscaped park so you could keep well away from others. Many families were lazing in the shade and enjoying a picnic lunch, which seemed like a good idea. I chose this image as I love the large Cedar trees they have in the garden.

Today is the anniversary of the day we first brought Xena home one year ago, known as her Gotcha Day. I can still remember driving home with her and how she cried for most of the way...and then cried for most of her first night. We have come a long way since then and she has been such a wonderful and easy dog so far. I have added some extras of her today and then one of her on the day we brought her home.

A lazy night in, I have a coconut lamb curry simmering away on the cooker for supper - really not the best meal for this hot weather but I had lamb that needed to be used. Gavin and I really enjoyed watching Coastal Path with Paul Rose on BBC1, when he walks the entire South West Coastal Path. It would be wonderful to walk that one day, obviously over periods of time as it is 630 miles!
