BEETHAM NURSERIES

Well I have been very brave today.  All three of us from this house went to Beetham Nurseries - with great trepidation.  It is a totally surreal experience and one I think is going to become our new way of life - unfortunately.

We all masked up as we arrived and there weren't too many people around.  Beetham have done a great job, there are clear instructions on "face coverings MUST be worn" and directions.  They stop each group and sanitise a trolley for you if you want one.

We went in, spent most of the time in the outdoor garden section but left the masks on ready for going back into the tills again.  Sadly the cafe is only open for takeaways at the moment otherwise we might have been brave.

Anyway we spent about 30 minutes there.  Everyone social distanced well.  The only thing I had a slight issue with was there were two ladies there (separate groups) who wore their masks "under" their noses - NO BLINKING POINT WEARING THEM IS THERE.  However I stayed serene and just hoped the Garden Centre would point this out to them, however I don't think they did!!

However well done Beetham if everybody followed the rules properly it was be amazing.  The photo is of Hubby coming out with our purchases still masked up until he got to the car.

We the called into Levens Hall Kitchens for takeaway cake.  I was the one that  left the mask on so I went in.  They are so well set up again. You do not touch anything at all.    Clearly marked out,  you wait until you are called for (if there is a queue, there was none this morning) why you place your order.  They even have taped in areas where you can either sit or stand and wait until your order is ready.  The young lady preparing the order was well kitted out and did not touch any of the cakes by hand, all boxed and placed on a table for you to pick up.   All staff, even though they were behind perspex screens were all masked and all kept a distance from each other.

I came away with two fruit scones, clotted cream, butter and jam for Hubby and G - which they thoroughly enjoyed.  They reckon Hazlemere's wholemeal fruit scones are better but these are still good.  I had a homemade Raspberry Teacake - YUMMM YUMMMMM YUMMMMM.  Basically it was shortcake topped with a raspberry moose filled with raspberry jelly and covered in dark chocolate sort of spread.  ALL HOME-MADE AND VERY VERY SCRUMMY.

They said they were going to try opening up the cafe tomorrow but very scaled down but they are still keeping the takeaway service open as most people seem to like that.  I will use in again as I felt safe in there.  Well done Levens Hall.

Still not ready to go into pubs or restaurants yet.  In fact not ready to go in most places, but it's a first step and I will only go occasionally.
