Life's Little Moments

Nectar Dipping

The day started with thunderstorms here in the AOG NJ Olympic Stadium which wasn't promising.  No, not promising at all.  The arthropods were all in hiding and the birds... well, suffice it to say they were bedraggled.  In fact, things looked downright dire for Day 2 of the Alternative Olympic Games here in New Jersey.

However, after consulting with my parents on the west coast, and taking a rather long nap, things looked decidedly better.  The sun broke through and the Games were in full swing!  When I ventured down to Pollinator Arena I was thrilled to see the star of Team Thread-Waisted Wasp taking the lead in the Pollen Dipping time trials (thanks to Suejay50 for tipping me off to this new AOG event).  Wanda was in perfect form and showing unparalleled focus as she worked through her routine in the Mint Venue.  I think she is in excellent position to medal in this event.

In other AOG news, Team Hummie had to be given a stern "talking-to" after they imbibed way too much nectar and started behaving more like hooligans than Olympic champions.  Things were really beyond the pale when one of the younger team members chased a member of Team Goldfinch, hurling insults as they flew off into the trees. We are willing to give them some slack since they are young and, one assumes, a bit excited about participating in the Games.  But we are watching...

Meanwhile, the news from other venues around the globe is fast paced and, in some cases, downright nail-biting.  And if you don't believe this reporter, click HERE for Day 1 and HERE for Day 2.  I know the intrepid reporters, as well as the athletes would appreciate some words of encouragement!

Stay safe out there, people.  And don't forget to be kind and loving.
