A view that is worth the drive!

It has been such a long day....we were up at 3.30am and managed to leave home by 4.30am. At the Eurotunnel crossing all the services were closed so I could not have a much needed coffee, but had to wait for the first aire stop over in France.  Oh my word but those French service places are horrible - the tiny patches of lawn available to allow a dog to stretch their legs are full of dog poo and litter. We had four stops throughout our journey and it was a sweltering hot day, 36C and no shade anywhere to sit and eat our picnic lunch. We eventually had to eat in the air conditioned car with the motor running. After just over 12 hours - although only 10 hours of actual driving time - we rolled in to the village to be greeted by this beautiful view.

In the extras you can see how the Princess travels in business class style! She is very comfortable there and has enough room, and is able to look out the windows too. 

Usually the village is not that busy in the summer, they rely on their winter ski season for their profitable time. Years ago it was a busy place in the summer, but the high Swiss Franc has put paid to that happening these days as tourists rather go to Euro based countries. However, this summer it has been so busy. When we arrived there were many people about and the restaurants were busy. there was even a wedding taking place outside one of our favourite restaurants and another large function happening in their conference centre.

We unpacked and took Xena for a walk. She immediately recognised the place when we arrived, and was happy to be out walking here again, she even ventured into the stream and had a paddle. We went to a local restaurant for a quick supper (as we have no food yet) and sat outside on the terrace, enjoying the views of the surrounding mountains - it was heavenly. 

Now it will be an early night and we look forward to some very good weather this week.
