Deer Park

I started the day at Midhurst exploring the grounds around the Cowdray House Ruins (extra), which is part of the Cowdray Estate and home to the world famous Cowdray Park Polo Club.  The ruins are of a large Tudor manor house, with Henry VIII being a frequent visitor. It was partly destoryed by fire in 1793.  Today the ruins were surrounded by scaffold fencing and inacccessible - perhaps in reponse to COVID-19.

I headed home via Petworth Park in the hopes of seeing some of the deer.  I was not disappointed, and found a large gathering under a clump of trees - very wise on this, very hot day.
