A change in the weather

After a week of hot and sunny weather we woke up to rain and low cloud, which is when I took this image. We did not go for a long walk this morning as Xena does not like walking in the rain- after a short walk Gavin and I had to go see the notary in the village to get a document notarised for the agent of the chalet apartment building we are in, which was very quick and easy - we were given masks and had to use hand sanitiser which was good. We then went to our favourite cafe for coffee - and may have had a piece of cake too!

I made tomato soup for lunch and then it looked like the rain was easing. We decided to go for a short walk which ended up being quite a long walk, but luckily the rain had stopped and the sun came out again so it was lovely to be out. I have added some extras taken on that walk.

We heard the news last night that Brits visiting France will now have to quarantine for 14 days on their return. As we drive home through France this affects us. However on checking the information on the Foreign Office website it seems that if you are travelling through France in a private vehicle you don't need to isolate if when you make a stop 1) no new person gets in the car 2) no one gets out the car and mixes with other people and gets in again. As we take food and drinks with us we can stop and eat a picnic meal away from everyone else, we will stop at one of those garages for fuel where you can pay at the pump,  and as for toilets...we will go as we leave the Swiss border (maybe cross into Germany near Strasbourg) and sit tight until we get to the other side.  I think we can avoid having to quarantine. However, many other people will not be taking these safety measures that we are and as the track and trace system in the UK is non existent it will be difficult to control. Luke and Meriel had planned a weekend in Paris on the way home, but had already cancelled those plans due to the rising cases there.
