AOG - Final Day

And what a day it was!  There was a period of time when this reporter did not think Team Hummie was going to be able to get their sh** together long enough to perform the all-important Snuffing Out of the AOG Torch.  But as you can see, young Helvetia stepped up to the plate in a very big way.  She never wavered, in spite of being able to hear some of her teammates cursing each other like a bunch of sailors.

Leading up to this official Closing of the Games, there was a continuation of drama seen during recent days.  It all started when your Intrepid Reporter noticed a member of Team Catbird acting in a very suspicious manner, lurking about in the garden, muttering quietly.  And then, right before my shocked eyes, out it darted, grabbing one of the paralyzed katydids (that's another whole story) from the Digger Wasps and flying off with it.  Unbelievable!  You can see the whole thing HERE including the very distraught wasp and a second stunned katydid on the ground.  Team Catbird was immediately removed from the Closing Ceremonies Musical Ensemble.

Meanwhile, onto to the delicate subject of the paralyzed Katydids... Well, of course we had our suspicions especially since no one from Team Katydid or Team Cricket showed up for the Jumping Events this year. But, we were inclined to look the other way, so to speak.  After all, the members of Team Great Golden Digger Wasp had worked so hard to get into the finals in burrowing.  But today not one, but TWO, Diggers were seen with helpless 'dids.  After the Catbird stole one, the two DIggers got into a terrible shouting match which ultimately devolved into Wasp Fisticuffs!  What a mess.  The whole team had to be DQ'd.

On a happier note, Snooty of Team Snowberry Clearwing took Gold in the Longest Proboscis Finals .  Is it any wonder?  I mean, look at that proboscis!

That wraps up another successful AOG, people.  I want to give a huge thanks to the Panel of International Judges (Beckett, Pipersmom, Doingok, Legacy and RandomAngle) who did a wonderful job handling disputes and interpreting some very convoluted rules.  And an enormous shout out to all the amazing Reporters who covered the games from all over the world.  I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did.  In this crazy time in the world, we all have to remember to just be silly sometimes (while masking and socially distancing, of course!)

Yesterday's events can be seen HERE and today's thrilling closing events/ceremonies can be seen HERE.
