Scene of Operations

Back at work on the Red House, doing the fiddly bits around the window and the balcony door. It took a long time, including having to cut a 2,5 metre plank length-ways, but now I'm almost ready to just put up boards without any tricky fiddling. That feels good.
All the old planks are now de-nailed and safely away in the kayak tent. I think they will probably be fire wood but maybe I'll keep some good sections in case I need to replace the rotten bases of some other planks. Anyway, they are in the dry which is important because it may rain tonight.
Tomorrow we are busy in town mid-afternoon as the Left Party holds it's first meeting of the autumn, in the town square, eating food from the vegan caravan. So probably a rest from Red House renovations.
Other happenings today? We were out before breakfast to do a little garden harvesting, to give us fruit to eat for breakfast. Wild raspberries, wild strawberries, a strawberry, blackcurrants, blackberries, bilberries - because the fruit is fresh and plentiful we can eat as much as we want. This time of plenty only lasts a few weeks, and only happens some years, but while it is happening it is such a luxury.
