Day 164 Last day of the Summer holidays

Today Violet and I popped out to Sainsbury's to buy some final bits and pieces ready for her return to school tomorrow.  At rather short notice, parents have been told that they must now supply  a pencil case, with writing and colouring pencils, a rubber, a pencil sharpener and a glue stick, all named of course.  I was highly relieved that this supermarket had plenty of stationery stock left.  Of course we had to have a little end of holiday treat and Violet chose some PlayDoh to restock her supplies and this little Lego diver in his diving bell complete with a treasure chest containing 'jewels' and even a hammer head shark.
Tomorrow Violet's mummy will be able to take and fetch her from school and it will be a very different experience: staggered start times with each class having a 15 minute slot to arrive.  Children must be sent straight into the classroom and parents/carers to  leave immediately as they are not allowed in the school building.  At least Violet had a taste of this strange new world when she went back in June for a few weeks, but the classes were very small indeed and only 3 of 7 year groups were there.  I can't imagine what those tinies, starting school for the very first time tomorrow, will make of it all.  With 39 pages of risk assessment to assimilate, I can't imagine that it'll be an easy ride for the staff either.
