Felbrigg

H and I went for a lovely long walk around the woods at Felbrigg today. We were so lucky, the rain left off shortly before I left and started again on the drive home. It was the first outing for my walking boots this autumn given the heavy rain we've had.

Day 172 / Full Day 164 of Lockdown / Day 62 of Step 3 (for my record only)
UK deaths up 13 to 41,527 (revised basis), with new daily cases up by 1,735 and 799 patients in hospital. Total cases to date in Brazil pass 4m, with India catching up fast and likely to pass 4m tomorrow. The nightmare of each UK nation deciding quarantine rules separately on different days continues with Wales and Scotland requiring quarantine for people returning from Portugal (starting on different days), but not England (yet?). Greece is on the Scottish quarantine list, six Greek islands are on the Welsh list and Greece is on England's safe list. Just completely confusing and plain stupid! R no. in Scotland could be as high as 1.4. More problems with Test and Trace, with some people being asked to travel hundreds of miles to get a test as they are being rationed to ensure there are enough for high risk areas. Also the no. of close contacts being reached through T&T has actually gone down below 70% this week and is getting worse. Enough is enough, they've had 6 months to get their act together, Matt Hancock needs to be replaced. £500m of funding has been made available to support trials of a 20 min saliva test. Between 14th and 20th Aug around 0.05% of the population had the virus, so 28.200 in private households. 8 teenage boys test positive after returning on a Wizz Air plane from Crete, other passengers have been told to self isolate. Amazon is creating 7,000 new jobs in the UK and Tesco announced last week that it is adding 16,000 new roles.
