Common Darter

I suppose at this time of year, dragonflies are taking over from bees as the "nip outside and see if there's a decent blip hanging around" emergency blip. Nonetheless, these gorgeous mini-dinosaurs are a delight and zip around the pond catching insects.

This one is sat on the 'breakfast table' that is still printing yellow X's into my lawn... He was quite happy to be photographed standing still, less so dancing around me in flight.

On my walk around the village this morning I was particularly drawn to enjoy the green over-arching treeline on Charfield Hill, having spent some time in conference recently with developers who want to carve a road through it.
