Quod oculus meus videt

Dahlia

Not quite what I'd envisaged when thinking about today's wide Wednesday challenge of minimalist, but it was a busy day, working at Weston Park in the morning and then heading to the Council Offices to collect IT equipment in the afternoon.

This dahlia is in the mixed border in front of the house, by stepping (carefully) into the border I was able to frame it against the yew hedge in the background, providing the negative space I was looking for.

The council offices were a revelation.  All of the offices are empty in preparation for a refurbishment and extension to make it into a community hub.  Just 15 staff members were present, down from more than 200 in its busiest times.  I caught up with an ex colleague, now the council's Covid duty officer, on some of the happenings in recent years.
