A Rusty Chain

Today's find when digging the garden was this foot long rusty chain buried vertically starting about 6 inches down. About time I came across some buried treasure instead! Very little digging today, instead I went back to fence painting before the weather turns.

Day 191 / Full Day 183 of Lockdown / Day 9 of Rule of Six (for my record only)
UK deaths up 37 to 41,825 (revised basis), with new daily cases up by 4,926 and 1,319 patients in hospital. Deaths in India pass 90k. The PM gave a statement to the Commons at lunchtime about the new restrictions in England and will broadcast to the Nation at 8pm. He said we have reached a perilous turning point and need to find a balance on restrictions between saving lives and minimising the wider impact. He wants schools, colleges and Unis to remain open and businesses that operate in a Covid- compliant way. He said measures could remain in place for 6 months.

1. If you can work from home, then do so;
2. From Thurs pubs, bars, restaurants must operate table service only and close their doors at 10pm (takeaways can still operate);
3. Face coverings now also mandatory for staff in retail, indoor hospitality, customers not seated at a table and taxi drivers & passengers (about time!);
4. Legal requirement for businesses to operate in a Covid-secure way with a fine of £10k or closure for breaching the rules;
5. From Mon, a max of 15 people can attend weddings, but funerals remain limited to 30. All adult team sports indoors are now limited to 6 people.

Fine for not wearing a face covering where required or gathering in more that six doubles to a starting point of £200 for a first offence. The phased re-opening of stadiums for sporting events is paused. Shielding is required only in areas under a local lockdown. Police to be able to call on military support if needed. Surprisingly there was no change to the Rule of Six to further limit households mixing - personally I think that was a mistake and Scotland has gone further still and stopped all household interaction in homes (bar bubbles).
