Life through the lens...

Pocketful of Stones.

After enjoying the Cornish gin at Mackerel Sky the other day, we ( or rather I !) decided to call in to the distillery which is near to where we bought the crab this morning.
Don’t you just love the name “ Pocketful of Stones”.

I tasted a couple of different gins, and found the one I liked best.
Unfortunately they didn’t have any in stock, as they are waiting for new containers ( not bottles) So we have ordered some to be delivered to us in October.
( Won’t give the game away as it will make a good blip later.)
Wonder if I am turning into a gin connoisseur!!
Sorry Gordons.
( That will make someone people I know laugh!)

Although it was dull today it was still warm.
20C, and the sun did appear at lunch time, so we were able to sit outside at the Orangery.
See extra.
Our favourite cafe in Penlee Gardens, Penzance,
Delicious soup, leek, broccoli and Stilton, and cheese scone. The lady there bakes the best ever.

As always we had a walk round the gardens, and those of Morab Gardens, where my grandfather worked as an apprentice back in the late 1800s. I don’t think they have changed much since those days. The bandstand is still there, but don’t know if it is used now.

The town itself looked so sad.
Last time we were here I thought things had started to improve, but now there are so many empty shops, and closing down sales.
However the promenade is all being renovated. Not sure it will make any difference though.

Have just finished another delicious crab salad. Washed down with an excellent white burgundy.
Getting spoilt with all this delicious food.
