Mono Monday: Abstract Reflections

The weather is on the turn over the next few days.  This morning was lovely and sunny here, but we are due for rain later on this week.  With that in mind I took the opportunity for a walk down to the river to play with long exposures for today's challenge.  I did play with some more abstract shots but I rather liked the contrast in the two different speeds of water on display here.

On the left the water rushes over the weir, while on the right the water almost doesn't seem to be moving but a suitably long exposure eventually reveals the truth with the floating leaves revealing the swirling currents of the sluggish flow.

I entirely accept that this shot doesn't really meet the brief for the challenge this week.

Frustratingly there was also quite a breeze, particularly higher up amongst the tree tops which has blurred the tree in the top right of the frame.  I was almost tempted to take a short exposure of the same image and to cut and paste the still trees into the picture. :-)
