Flooded

Gorgeous day. We set off fairly early, bacon roll and coffee in hand, and were drawn west by a huge dramatic rainbow dipping into the hills in the distance.
Arrived at Balmaha on the fabled bonny bonny banks and set off for a stunning walk along the shore and back through the woods. I’ve been listening to the Out of doors programme recently about the West Highland Way (actually rather tempted to do it) so it was fun to walk along even a tiny bit of it. Just gorgeous...flooded with colours from the trees, the sky and water and we drank it all in. Just what we needed. Almost warm...certainly didn’t need my coat on.
Back to the car park and then we got some delicious home made ice cream and sat watching the swans and kayaks and the sun on the Loch whilst we polished it off.
Drove further west towards our destination at Ardfern, via a little wander round Inveraray and some tea and apple strudel (one of my favourites). Found a little shop with some beautiful cards and prints and remembered the last time I was here.
Just as we arrived at the hotel we pulled into take a photo of a pink sky as the sunset began and found ourselves a few feet away from a huge buzzard that sat and stared at us for quite a while before flapping away.
Hotel very quiet and empty feeling although all the rooms were taken...no alcohol inside and no non-residents for dinner meant it felt like a ghost ship but pleased we were still able to come as we’d been looking forward to this break.
Fish and chips and an early night....great day
