Exploring a new to me beech wood

As I drove back from Jan’s yesterday afternoon the light was stunning and I was looking for places I might stop and park in future if I wanted to explore some more.  I noticed a pull off area next to this beech wood so thought I’d explore this morning before the rain set in (I only just made it).  It’s only a couple of miles from home but not somewhere I’ve ever stopped before.  It was really a bit dark in there for handheld photographs but decided to try and few images and maybe go back again later.  I also explored the bridge-path that ran along the far side which brought me out at the tunnel that goes under the Stocksbridge Bypass and onto the path that goes along the Pennine Trail into Grenoside (which I do know).  I think I’ll be back to explore further.

I began my morning in Penistone Market Hall buying fruit and veg, a small quantity of cheese  and one or two things from the Bridge Bakery Stall as they are now back for the Saturday market (I’ve usually shopped with them at Fox Valley).  I’ve never seen the Saturday market so full of stalls, let’s hope there is enough take-up to keep them coming.  It seems an odd time to expand when our area has just gone into the highest tier of lock down.  Interestingly it seems that people are taking this in their stride now, though also being sensible.
