Food Source

What appealed to me was the pattern made by the holes and deep crack in the weathered trunk of this old dead tree. I had seen woodpeckers nesting higher up earlier in the year and surmised that the holes were in fact from their search for insects beneath the bark, at least in a time when the tree had bark.

I think the crack made it for me and I looked for a way to use it to break the pattern of holes. I also liked having the area on the right side without holes as a contrast.
