A view from Jeanneb

All Souls.

A damp and mizzly morning but we walked up the village to add our purple ribbons to the arch on the church doorway.
Each ribbon holds the name of someone you want to be remembered in prayers this weekend.

With the increasing prominence of Halloween I think we forget it’s origin. All Hallow’een (eve) is the night before All Hallows or All Souls/Saints Day when we remember and honour the dead like the Dia de los Meurtos in Mexico.

I think the purple ribbon idea is a nice one and we are doing it at each church in our benefice.

In front of it is the lovely ‘Inspiration‘ rose planted by the WI to celebrate their centenary in 2015. This was the only one still looking good but before the heavy rain, about a week, ago they were all looking lovely.

Enjoy your weekend whatever you are ‘celebrating’.
