Railway Path

November already - where has the year gone?  Unlike yesterday, I had lots to do today and was keen to get going.  First was a pot of soup for lunches this week, next was to prepare tea, which was a random recipe from a  magazine that I had never made before and then I got round to the chocolate cake I had been promising BB that I would make since last weekend.  In between I did some more washing and some chores.  The boys went to church  so I had peace, which meant I just got on with things.
Before I knew it it was time for lunch, and then we all headed to Penicuik as BB was playing football there.  We dropped him off and went for a walk in a different place – what a  treat.  It wasn’t much of a walk as the rain came on and we got rather damp.  We walked along the former Edinburgh to Peebles railway path by the River North Esk.  Had it not been raining and very wet and muddy underfoot it would have been a more enjoyable walk.  As it was we walked back through the town and stopped off in Tesco to shelter from the rain and dry off a bit.  Needless to say, BB was soaked when we picked him up and he was keen to get home for a shower and chocolate cake.  He was happy as he had scored a goal, but unfortunately his team only drew.  He said they should have won.  Anyway they still haven’t lost a game.
Later I got the sad news that my uncle died.  It wasn’t unexpected as he has been in a care home for a long time now.
A rather uninspiring blip from our walk this afternoon.
