Lockdown? What lockdown?

Traders in Loughborough have given scant notice to Lockdown 2. Greengrocery stalls, the fishmongers and the butcher are all doing business.

I rang Aziz early on to find out what he was doing. He was sitting in his shop as usual. He had been assured that so long as he could show that he was selling essential goods, he could continue to trade. So he bought a job lot of Moroccan tea and harissa to sell. The photo processing shop next door is collecting laundry, also an essential service.

The furniture shop up the road is offering honey and beeswax wrapping. The Turkish barber has objected strenuously to lockdown and was taking customers. Boots was open. But not Primarni. Several shops, including Waterstones, are open for click and collect. You can get takeouts from several of the cafés.

I simply had to go into Loughborough to collect photographic evidence. See the extras.
