Wood and iron 3

This handle opens the small south door of the cathedral.  I've always thought it a rather nice piece of blacksmithing, now attractively worn.  Smooth and slightly melted by much use from many hands over the years..

Is it my imagination, or are we not taking this lockdown in England very seriously?  All that talk of fresher air, very little noise from car engines and the beauty of birdsong doesn't seem a feature (of Winchester, at least).  And so many people out shopping.  It seems the only place that's quietened down all of a sudden is Downing Street.
