COMMON LOON

Common Loon (Gavia immer); fish eating bird more common to the northern parts of Wisconsin. They migrate through my area twice a year giving me the opportunity to do some shooting. Being fish eaters they need open water year round.

More than one city-dweller has had the bejeesus scared out of them when first hearing a loon's wail call. It sounds other-worldly and you will not soon forget it.
