A Day of Errands

A list of things to
accomplish were on my mind
before the sun rose.

A and I got a lot done today.

First, we picked up a Christmas tree and a potted pointsettia for her home. Both came from the home building store on the hill. We delivered them to her home in my pickup truck. The tree was trussed up with twine to keep the branches together. A moved it into her house and placed it on a heavy stand, adjusting the screws on the base as I held it vertical. With a bit of a trim and some water in the stand, the tree was ready to settle in.

A would like to make a Christmas tree skirt for her tree so we were off to the quilt store to select a range of 12 fabrics. She started with her favourite, chartreuse, and added some red, other greens, black and lights. We fanned the bolts out on the store's carpet to see how they played together. When she was happy with the mix, we bundled up the portions she needed.

The next stop was the fabric store. I found some fabric for A's Christmas pillow that is underway. Also, I found the backing and batting for her Christmas tree skirt.

We made our lunch stop the Dutch pancake restaurant near the fabric stores.

We saved the worst job to the last. All the recycling we've both collected for months needed to be sorted and delivered to the depot. Our city does do some recycling curbside but it does not include all the items that can be recycled. So, A sorted it all out in my entrance way and we hauled it upstairs to her car outside my front door. What a relief to clear it all out, but it only yielded her a meager $10 for her efforts! One has to be a dedicated environmentalist to be satisfied with this return.
