SILLY SATURDAY - CHRISTMAS IS COMING!

Hello Lovely Blippers

I managed to sneak off before JH Ted was awake and climbed up to the top of Mr. and Mrs. HCB’s Christmas tree because I wanted to see what the rest of the decorations looked like from up here.  I also wanted to have a look at the angel on top of the tree to see why Mrs. HCB puts it up there every year.

Apparently, their son, Martyn, who was born a long time ago - no spoilers as to his age, but he will be three score minus 10 next year, made this angel when he was at Infant School, as it was then, when he was about 5 years old, so you can tell, it is pretty old.  It has kept very well, mainly down to the expertise of Mrs. HCB who lovingly puts it into a special little box every year to make sure it doesn’t get crushed.  I wonder if other Mothers do the same with old stuff their children made at school?

Anyway, here I am, sharing the top of the tree with this old angel - but thinking about it, the story of Christmas is old anyway, and every year, it becomes new - so why should it be any different this year?  You might think it was silly to climb all this way up, but I think Admirer would have approved and even giggled!

Having heard about the Rules and Regulations put in place because of this wretched virus, many people think that Christmas will not be the same, but I know that despite Mr. and Mrs. HCB being on their own at Christmas, they will still celebrate the birth of Jesus, their Nativity set, which is over 50 years old will be on the mantelpiece, they will be singing Christmas Carols and will enjoy some good food, then, hopefully, we will all be able to get together next year at Christmas.

Mrs. HCB asked me to tell you that she did too much typing yesterday, so her comments may be a bit sparse today - so please forgive her.

It’s the first Sunday of Advent tomorrow, so I think more decorations will be going up - so watch this space.

Sending love to you all,

“What is Christmas?
It is tenderness for the past,
          courage for the present and
               hope for the future.”
Agnes M. Pahro

P.S.  If you wonder what all the colours are in the background, it is a canvas on the wall, made up of lots of Mrs. HCB's Abstract Thursday shots.
