FIRST SUNDAY IN ADVENT

As we haven’t been back to Church yet, we watched the service for the First Sunday in Advent online.  Most Churches have a Christmas Appeal and the service we watched was no exception.

They were appealing for folks to raise money so that children in Costa Rica, helped by a charity called Educacion Plus, could provide school uniforms for 60 children and also to provide books and other help for 300 children at Melon House School in Kenya.  We were familiar with Educacion Plus, as we sponsored a lad there called Juan Daniel, who would be 25 years old now, for several years,  but did not know about Melon House School, so it was good to learn more about that.

We feel very blessed to have so much, and especially at Christmastime, so it is good to be able to help others.

Sadly, one set of our Christmas tree lights failed, so we bought some more and I have just decorated the tree - which looks very sparkly, so it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in our house, although I don’t think it will hold a candle to HarlingDarling’s house, but when all the lights are twinkling, I often think of her.

Stay safe and have a great week.

“Want to keep Christ in Christmas?
     Feed the hungry,
          clothe the naked,
forgive the guilty,
     welcome the unwanted,
          care for the ill,
love your enemies,
     and do unto others
as you would have done unto you.”
Steve Maraboli

P.S.  A friend of mine has written a book of Advent Haikus and I was hoping to have received it, but it hasn’t arrived yet - as soon as it does, I will share some of them with you - with her permission, of course!
