Geese

Thousands of geese in the fields near Blair Drummond today. We'd taken ourselves off for a walk to try to get to tiny Loch Watston, near Kilmadock Cemetery. It was almost fruitless as there's no track to the loch that we could see. We had the tiniest glimpse of the water but it wasn't worth a blip.

What a perfectly gorgeous day though. Bright winter sun, frost on the ground, mist rising from the water (the tiny glimpse) and the geese. They were arriving in their droves, flying west to the fields we were walking by. The noise they made was so loud in an otherwise quiet area. I walked into a field where there was obviously something to eat in the stubble of last season's crop. I must have spooked them as they obligingly flew off in this crowd, circled and landed again. Fantastic sight and sound.

Not a long walk but one that was pretty rewarding. Garden next and a few family catch ups to come.
