Clara dancing with the Mouse King Nutcracker doll

Really enjoyable today. We went to Tenterden to visit the railway shop which was open as part of the Tenterden Christmas event. We bought some KESR Christmas cards and one of the boxes of mince pies that had been purchased for the cancelled Santa Specials. Most of the other 6000 pies had been purchased by Tenterden Town Council who distributed them to the Food Bank, the Old School House Larder and the Big Wrap charity.

This is the nearest we’ll get to the Tenterden Town signalbox which is one of the boxes I work as a signalman. My wife tells me it is a scene from the Nutcracker and indeed she is right. https://cdn-smg.wayfresh.co.uk/york-barbican/lg_20180417155112_256.jpg

We had our lunch, with a coffee and one of the aforementioned mince pies then set off on a housing reconnaissance mission around the town. Some positive leads to follow.

From there we wallowed through muddy footpaths across the rolling countryside to the south and west of Tenterden.

The day was rounded off with a very good Waitrose Thai dinner and an exceptional and uplifting Kate Rusby streamed concert. Wonderful.

Edit: added a further memory about Dad’s funeral 10 years ago yesterday. Thank you so much for your heartfelt comments.
