Oh the grandchildren were wonderful last night...and this morning! But the little one woke me up at 5:00 am...coming into our room chatting up a blue streak about the cat in the hallway. I got him to come into bed and to whisper instead of talk out loud. Apparently his feet were cold since he kept trying to wiggle his feet into my belly, toenails and all. We finally got back to sleep an hour later, only to be woken awake with a startle by his chatting again. Groan! Dark, pouring rain, a good morning for a lie in, but that was not meant to be.
Regardless, we had a marvelous time. I took them home midday and went out for a good walk in between rain showers. One of my neighbors...well, they really live further away than a neighborly distance...but I always walk by their house because they have the loveliest roses. And they're still blooming. It's been a mild winter (see yesterday's rhodie!) and the roses have not been nipped by a killing frost yet. Maybe the winter will remain mild....fingers crossed!
Up early tomorrow for more botanical garden meetings...I'm looking forward to some time off over the holidays.
Here's to a fabulous upcoming week....safe, quite, pleasant....mostly safe, yes?
