With Foreground Interest

Quite a lot of this morning went into playing around with Bokeh, partly just for fun and partly to add to the resources for a challenge I am setting for camera club members over the Christmas break.  Describing how to achieve Bokeh is tricky - it's not easy to do and its even harder to explain in words that will be understood.  The first challenge - as always - is how to say the word without apologising for not knowing how to say it. For goodness sake, can't we agree a westernised pronunciation of a Japanese word OR learn the correct pronunciation OR find another word!  This particular image has bokeh in both background (Xmas tree) and foreground (tinsel) with only the subject (ornament) in focus!

It was interesting for me to see that the lens where I had the best results was the OLY 40-150 which is one I don't use that often as a rule.  great lens, f2.8 but relatively heavy and bulky - I really must use it more often.

So close to Christmas now - mostly ready but we are not entertaining the masses!!! so can go with the flow. Family Zoom planned for mid afternoon so hope the internet holds out with almost everyone trying to connect with family and friends.
