Spring in winter

This afternoon I had a long walk up to and around the butterfly reserve.  There's a relatively sheltered spot up there that always seems to have hazel catkins earlier than anywhere else.  Look at this one blowing about in the wind, you can even see the minute red flowers blooming at the top. 

The first Extra, though, is a reminder that winter isn't half over, and the second is of a rather lovely bracket fungus which I can't identify but which I've seen a lot of this year.
