Icy Goit Stock walk

Quite icy this morning but no more deposits of snow.
We walked up Goit Stock before the ‘tourists’ arrived hoping the mud would be hardened by the frost.  There was a slight crust of ice but generally it was still pretty muddy due to the heavy foot fall.

Returning through Hallas Bridge along the top of the woods, a slightly less muddy alternative to the other side of the valley, I had an unnerving moment when a large horse galloped straight towards me but he was friendly enough. Didn’t see many folks except a few locals but the road and pub car park had a good number of cars parked up when we returned to the he village.

Walking more usually in the opposite direction I have featured the lone stone gatepost as a blip before but approaching from the other side you see the remains of the gate ‘furniture’ which forms a kind of face. More of a grimace than a smile but I thought I would enter it for Give us a Smile.
