The Edge of the Wold

Contrasts

As I write, this photo was taken yesterday afternoon at sunset, though after the events later that day it somehow seems an age has passed.  The ugly scenes in Washington overshadowed the scary news that over 1000 people in the UK had died from Covid in the last 24 hours and our health service is desperately stretched.

A walk along the Kent Estuary shore at Sandside was a tranquil moment to watch the gulls drifting down towards the Bay.  It had been another cold, frosty day when we hoped that Reggie is safe under the soil in the garden and that the mounds of leaves and fleece are in the right place to protect him.

Then to come home and watch incredulously the unfolding events as the mob stormed the Capitol buildings.  We can only hope this culmination to the lies and incendiary rhetoric of the last four years will provide the spur for the people and their representatives to come back together to now work to make the country a better place for all.
