Crazy

I posted my blip yesterday before seeing the news of the domestic terrorist attack in Washington.

Shocked, disgusted, appalled, it’s all been said, hasn’t it? I’ve had a derisory laugh at various political commentators and journalists referring back to their own earlier Trump work and saying “See? We told you his words would be dangerous!” As if we didn’t already know.....

The optimist in me says that there is now less than two weeks to go before the orange menace is dragged, kicking and screaming from the office he has defiled and hopefully Biden, if he achieves nothing else, will be able to at least instil a sense of calm and sanity to proceedings. His words earlier today, a positive step in the right direction.

I said the other day that there is not a great deal of pride to be found in being British at present, so goodness only knows how our neighbours across the pond are feeling today.

That being said, there is pride in all those NHS and associated frontline key workers for whom a bit of clapping just simply doesn’t cut it anymore (not that it really ever did). It’s a nice gesture, it is, but there’s got to be something more we can do to acknowledge their efforts. I honestly can’t imagine how those at the sharp end are getting through the day at present.

We may be locked down, but are allowed outside for exercise, which enabled me to take this shot earlier today on a walk with the children. It has been a tough couple of days already as life under the latest version takes grip of our psyche, but despite the tedium of a restricted existence, I still consider myself one of the lucky ones and am exceptionally grateful to those putting it all on the frontline.

Eat the elephant. One day at a time.

Stay healthy.
