Day 304 The Science Lesson

Today we decided that it was time for Violet to have a science lesson.  We finally opened the Science Lab set that I had bought during the Summer but somehow never got round to using and decided to begin at the beginning with the experiments.  This first experiment involved primary colours and the making of secondary colours by mixing them.  I didn't get very many photos as I was involved in doing the experiment but fortunately daughter #1 caught more of the action.  Violet was very much engaged by this activity and especially liked mixing pairs of primary colours to see what they made.  The purple as you see, came out rather brownish in tone, but looked much better when we shone a light through it.  I know that crystal liqueur glasses aren't normal science lab equipment but they were the right size and did bring a bit of sparkle to the proceedings!

In other news:  the big news today is the inauguration of America's 46th president.  We watched the ceremony with some emotion, knowing that many were delighted and relieved that this day had finally arrived.
It was wonderful too,  to see Kamala Harris sworn in as Vice President as was  the performance of the  astonishing Amanda Gorman  reciting her powerful poem.
