Quod oculus meus videt

Masked Marty

Marty is kept in the stables next to L's ride, Meg.  He has the most expressive ears which, when he is in the stable in particular, he can lay flat back against his mane in a most threatening manner.  You'd hardly want to get within a mile of him when he looks like that!

He was in the adjacent paddock today, suitably wrapped up agains the biting cold and wind that was whipping across the land.  I get the feeling his headwear was restricting some of the movement he likes to achieve with his ears and they seemed permanently stuck out in this position when we first saw him.

After we'd seen to Meg, on the way back passed his paddock we noticed his ear protection had flopped down against the side of his head.  Evidently he'd flicked his ears around so much they had come out of the pockets.  L (bravely) got into his field and helped them back into the space provided.  We hope he appreciated it, though he seemed more interested in being fed horse snacks.

Afterwards, we took the opportunity for a short walk in the best of the weather in the afternoon.
