The Chickadee Trail

It has been a dreary, dull, grey day, not ideal for taking photos but I returned to the Lynde Creek conservation area anyway and it ended up to be a good day for walking as there were not many folks out on the trails...and not many scenic photo-ops to distract me from my exercise!  There was not a lot of wildlife (other than the ubiquitous Canada Geese) out there either - just some wild turkeys, a deer off in the distance and of course, lots of people-friendly chickadees. But then, in the parking lot, I met Penelope, a domestic shorthair, known as "Penelope the Adventure Cat" on Instagram. A cat visiting a bird sanctuary? Penelope's owner had just paid the parking fee only to discover that pets were not allowed? (Quel surpris ) Poor Penelope, on her leash, sporting her fashionable bandanna, and ready for an adventure, was denied access! She had to settle for a stroll around the parking lot instead. A disappointing day for Penelope, but not for all those birds in the park. Safe for another day!
